GI Bill Flight Training

Department of Veterans Affairs, Benefits for Flight Training

Sky Safety was approved in 2006 as a Department of Veterans Affairs training facility. Since that time we have processed Montgomery GI Bill Benefits Chapter 30 of title 38 U.S.C.; and most recently Chapter 33 Post 911 Benefits.

The Department of Veteran Affairs offers benefits that cover Sky Safety Part 141 FAA approved courses beyond Private Pilot. To determine eligibility, potential VA students should apply for a Letter of Eligibility. Once you have a Letter of Eligibility, you may enroll at Sky Safety to begin your training.

Prior to enrollment, students must submit:

Chapter 30, MGIB students will receive a reimbursement of 60% of the funds paid by the student up to the FAA approved minimum time for each approved program.

Chapter 33, Post 911 benefits include payment directly from the Dept of the VA to Sky Safety. Payment is limited to the FAA minimum hours for each approved program. The maximum approved funds are $10,000 per academic year (August 1st - July 31st).

The Department of Veterans Affairs will not cover training toward a Private Pilot License unless that license is part of a Degree Program at an Institution of Higher Learning. We are affiliated with Palo Alto College, and Private Pilot training may be conducted through their Professional Pilot Program. You can reach the PAC Aviation Dept at 210-486-3065.
